With a restricted budget, we were commissioned to build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that used data provided by NE travel as well as other travel data sources. Compare my Travel identified the user's location and desired destination, then provided a range of transport methods to travel to the final destination.
With a limited budget and the fact that the competition winner would be determined by App downloads, we felt using Apache Cordova rather than native would be the best solution as it would provide a mobile application presence on both iTunes and Google PLay using the same codebase.
We researched viable API’s in order to provide travel information for driving, buses, trains and flights.
As part of the project, we were asked how this app could be monetized in the future, while the timeframe was tight in order to meet competition guidelines, we recommended the implementation of the Skyscanner API which would provide live flight information and also pay a commission on all flights booked via the app.
